Llambilles, Girona16 panels - 4,9 kWp systemInstalling panels as a profitable and sustainable investment
In the picturesque town of Llambillas, just a few kilometers from Girona, Manel welcomes us into his home to share his experience with solar energy. As a client and ambassador of Sunhero, Manel has installed not just one but two photovoltaic systems, and today he tells us about the entire process and the benefits he has experienced.
Manel clearly remembers the moment he decided to install solar panels in his home. “The reason was clear: the cost of electricity” he explains, noting that while sustainability was also important, the economic factor was decisive. Two years ago, he decided to carry out his first installation in Llambillas, and the experience was so positive that he repeated the process at his second residence in Sierra de Cazorla, taking advantage of the sunnier southern climate.
When looking for installation options, Manel explored several alternatives before choosing Sunhero. “I saw Sunhero and thought, why not give it a try?” he recalls. From the start, the entire process was straightforward and well-guided, giving him the confidence he needed to move forward. The installation was surprisingly quick, completed in just five or six hours—much less time than other companies had estimated.
One of the most striking aspects of Manel’s experience with solar energy has been the change in his electricity bills. “In the months of May, June, July… the bill was almost zero,” he explains. While there are still some costs that can’t be fully offset, Manel’s bills have dropped drastically, from around 200 euros to just 18 or 20 euros in those months. This reduction has been a clear indicator of the success of his investment.
Although economic savings were the main driver of his decision, Manel acknowledges that sustainability has become increasingly important to him over time. “In the end, you start to see that aspect of sustainability, of the ecological issue,” he says, highlighting that beyond financial profitability, investing in solar energy has a positive impact on the environment.
Manel has done detailed calculations on his investment and the benefits he has received. Between tax rebates on property taxes (IBI), deductions on his income tax return, and energy savings, he estimates that his investment will pay off in less than five years. “I’ve done annual calculations over these two years, and the savings have been around 1,500-1,800 euros each year,” he points out. This quick return on investment, combined with the tax benefits, makes installing solar panels a financially sound decision.
For those who are still unsure about installing solar panels, Manel offers clear advice: “It’s not an expense; it’s an investment.” He emphasizes the importance of researching different options but assures that a photovoltaic installation is an investment that improves both household finances and quality of life. Additionally, by reducing electricity expenses, it eliminates uncertainty about long-term energy costs.
Manel also addresses a common concern: the durability and effectiveness of new solar technologies. Thanks to the advice he received from the beginning, his doubts about the lifespan of the panels and the payback period were quickly dispelled. “Since my first video call with Federico, he clarified everything for me very well,” Manel says, now feeling confident that his investment will provide benefits for many years to come.
Manel’s experience with Sunhero in Llambillas is a testament to how solar energy can transform household finances while contributing to a more sustainable future. With a quick installation, significant savings, and a return on investment in just a few years, Manel demonstrates that solar energy is a viable and advantageous option for any home.
